Mrs. Zecevic

Welcome Mountain lions!

...and make yourself comfortable! I am so excited about the 2023-2024 school year. I am going into my 5th year of teaching English Language Arts and plan on making it the best year yet.

A little bit about my educational background: I graduated with my BA in English, 6-12 secondary teaching certification in ELA, and minors in Women's Studies, Religion, and Communication from Adrian College, a small private liberal arts college in Michigan. I then went on to earn my MA from Eastern Michigan University. Reading and writing are two of my greatest passions, they have helped me in my life immensely during some trying times.

About the trying times: I was actually born in Zagreb, Croatia when it was the former Yugoslavia. Due to the war that erupted in the 90's my family was forced to flee for safety and I actually spent half my primary years of schooling living in Germany until we were accepted for citizenship by the United States, where we moved to Michigan!

I graduated from Fraser High School and the rest was history. I am really happy to be in Colorado and set down some roots. I moved here in 2019 right before the pandemic hit. I met the love of my life, Matt, got married, and had a beautiful daughter who goes by the name of Luna. I also dragged the meanest cat ever, Callie, out here with me because I couldn't bare to have her experience another caretaker leaving her behind. She loves us, but that's about all the love she's got left in her.

As a teacher, I have high expectations that includes that when the bell rings you are already sitting at your desk, planner is out and the agenda for the day is copied down, followed by completing the warm up.  Students are to be prepared for class, following directions, contributing positively to the learning atmosphere, taking notes, and completing classwork. I am really passionate about my subject and my hope is to instill that same passion to my students. I find that my life experiences have helped me to connect with students across all life spectrums. I am kind, understanding, empathetic, and care for all of my students. My heart is in teaching and helping to build a bright future. My students are that future. Looking forward to an excellent year.
